When I update my library from tags it changes the song name to the filename.
How can I change that?
I don't want it to update anything but filetype and/or duration.
Is this configurable at all? Can it be?
Thanks

You'll need to use more standard file types with full tagging support or else not run this function.

Does that update the info you wanted?
If yes, you could make a custom field named e.g. "Name Backup" and copy the names there with the Move/Copy Fields tool before updating the library. After that use the tool again for correcting the track names.

Matt--
It seems to me that when you update ANY filetype from tags that all fields are updated. I've done this with WAVs converted from etree.org shns, which I then cropped in your media editor (which is a great little app). I want to update just the duration field, but everything reverts to file system readout.
Alex B--Sounds like a great workaround, but it doesn't stop there. I'd love to redo my genre fields via yadb, but I don't want to change anything else. Wouldn't field-specific updates be a more direct solution? MC12?

Yes Alex, that would probably work. Thanks for the tip. I haven't gotten much sleep lately. :P
jgreen, I agree with the field specific updating. Maybe it can be added to v11.1 or 12.
Please Matt?! ;)

Aparently I had to do this before. I didn't remember doing it until Alex made the suggestion, then it sounded familiar. I went to make the fields to copy to, and they were already there!!
I've copied the good names, atrists, genres and albums to the backup fields, and am now updating.
Once finished, I'll copy back and viola!!
Thanks again Alex for reminding me.
I need to sleep :P
