Title: WMA DRM Issues
Post by: Omni on June 03, 2005, 05:45:07 pm
Maybe some here has experienced this and can help.  (I've been the last two hours digging through Microsoft's site and Google links, but I haven't found an answer.)

Somehow, my DRM got corrupted on my machine.  It was fine yesterday, but today when I launched Rhapsody, it complained about it.  Following Microsoft's step-by-step instructions, I managed to get it reinstalled, and now Rhapsody is happy again.

Unfortunately, though, now when I try to play a purchased (from MSN) WMA track, it (actually, both MC and WMP10) complain about me not being authorized to play the track:

So I click on the "I ALREADY OWN THIS SONG" button, it downloads the license, and then I get this:

It tells me to click "Play" to play my song, but as you can see, the "Play" button is greyed out, and as such, does nothing when I click on it.

I've rebooted my machine numerous times--didn't help.  It's always the same cycle as above.  In fact, same for all DRM'ed tracks I have (non-DRM'ed tracks play fine, of course).

WMP10 is up-to-date.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

As a test, I just purchased Ozzy's "Bark at the Moon."  It plays fine. :-\
