When pressing the key combination to make the search field active, MC always jumps to the "Media Library" trunk rather than searching from the active branch. This only happens when using the key combo. When mouse clicking, it behaves correctly, searching in the active branch of the "Media Library" tree.

Ctrl-Q doesn't do this for me. What keys are you using?
[edit -- I see that ctrl-f does. We'll take a look.]

From MC11 help:
Keyboard Shortcuts
Ctrl + F => Find (Search) entire Media Library
-
This is by design. Ctrl + F searches the whole media library and Ctrl + Q (according to jim) is the shortcut to use when just searching the current view. After using Ctrl + F you can use the back toolbar button to go back to the previous view. Alternatively, providing you click or tab out of the search box you can go back by pressing backspace.

risingdamp is correct -- this is by design. Use Ctrl+Q to search in a view.
