My evaluation period recently expired, and I bought the $24.99 US upgrade. Everytime I try to register, I get the following error:
Error installing Media Jukebox license:
Invalid license.
I've tried restoring the license, I've tried running it from the web and from my local drive, and same result.
I'm using Media Jukebox v. 8.0.382 on WinXP. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. I've cleaned all relevant references out of the registry...I've got nothing running in the background when I try to register...
Can someone help me out? I'd prefer to have the problem solve, because I love the product, but if not, then I guess I'll need to arrange a refund.

Make sure you're using IE.
Then, try to right click on the license file on the restore
webpage and pick "Save As..."
Then, run the .mjr file you save from your local machine.
Does that help?
Let us know...

I've done that already a couple of times...and yes I'm using IE...as I said in my previous note, I have run it off of my local drive after saving it, and I have run it off of the web via IE6.
Unfortunately, no luck with that.

When you purchased it, did the license install correctly?
Is this a different system, or perhaps trying to restore?

I just purchased the license yesterday, and right from the first moment I tried to use it, I received the error message I listed in the first post. I tried restoring simply hoping that the first license file was corrupted or something like that. I've only tried the license on one system as it is the main machine that I want to use the product on.

Hi Ushio2003,
I tried your license and it worked for me. Did you get it working yet?

Hi John:
I tried it on another machine today too, and it worked there. Unfortunately, as this other machine is not the machine that I use, it doesn't help me much.
I'm wondering if this is happening because of the evaluation period expiring prior to my registering it...
I'm stumped...

Could you post your system info here (from MJ's help menu)?
If you send me an email, I'll send you a small utility that may help track down the problem.
Thanks,

Thanks JohnT:
Before I do this, I'm actually in the process of re-imaging my machine. (It was due anyway, this just gave me a good excuse.)
I'll try the license again tonight after I'm finished with the rebuild. I'll revisit this if the license is still invalid.
Thanks

JohnT:
I completely rebuilt my machine and I'm encountering the same error. Is this an XP thing?
Here's the info you requested:
Media Jukebox 8.0.385
Install Path: D:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1594 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 785 MB, Free - 620 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Workstation 5.1 (Build 2600)
Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer
I'm hoping there's some clue as to why this is happening...
Thanks.

Maybe the date on the machine is a problem.
-
Nope, the date was correct before I rebuilt the machine, and is correct now as well.
