Title: Keyboard control of full-screen G-force
Post by: avid on June 12, 2005, 03:15:46 am
With the latest (11.0.290) MC and the latest (3.0) G-Force, I almost always run the HTPC screen (actually my TV screen) with G-Force displayed full-screen. All control, feedback and music selection is through a wireless Pocket PC using NetRemote.

Now, G-Force has some useful keyboard commands, which I could execute from my Pocket PC via Girder. But I have real trouble getting keyboard input to G-Force when it is runing in full-screen mode. It never seems to have the focus.

Is there a way in which I can reliably direct keyboard input (or Girder keyboard commands) to a G-Force plug-in? Has anyone (jlee?) managed this? Is this an MC problem or a G-Force problem?

It doesn't work well for me either.  However with G-fore platinum, they include a toolbar and you could probabyly send commands too that.

Thanks for the suggestion. That would be one way. And if necessary I will pursue that route. But AFAIK, the toolbar has no keyboard commands or publicized automation interface (Windows messages or COM). I believe the "correct" way would be to use G-Force keyboard commands. So I would like to get that working if I can.

Unfortunately I've had a lot of trouble with this too and I think marko is the same.  I'm not sure if it's a GF or MC problem.  If I suss it out I'll let you know.

Same problem here. The shortcuts (over a regular keyboard) don't work.

Since upgrading to Platinum I spent a lot more time troubleshooting this but still with no luck and I couldn't even get Girder to click the button on the GF Toolbar to show track info.  I emailed soundspectrum about it and the diagnosis (which I've tested and can confirm) is that it's definately a focus problem with MC.

If anyone finds a solution I'd be very interested to hear it.

Could this be an "always on top" setting?  Menu bars?

I've tried changing all the settings in 'Configure display' without any success.

I'm the same, I can press h for help when g-force loads in, but that's all,

can't change any settings listed in the help

can't get the help when in full-screen mode via keyboard

this did work, but not anymore, checked all always on top for the apps I'm running, no dice
