Title: Web Remote Plugin causing studder problem
Post by: Mooneyass on October 08, 2002, 02:27:37 pm
I'm using an Audrey to control a WinXP machine (Duron 1.2, 256 MB barebones) which is playing mp3's from my media server (P4 1.6, WinXP) downstairs.  When I use the web remote plugin, I get studdering playback.  When I shut down the web remote it's fine.  It's all on a 100 MB switched network.

Any ideas?

100 Mb/s LAN is definitely fast enough. Try setting Options>Playback>Output to DirectSound. Bit depth to 16. In Settings move slider all the way to More Responsive (you may have to play around with this).

Xenno,

Just as a test I installed MJ and the webremote plugin on an old P-233 with win98.  Works flawlessly when controlled by Audrey......

I guess I must have some problems with my other machine (Duron 1.2, winXP) cuz it seems pretty slow and clunky even after a fresh install.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You tried DirectSound? Did it help?

If you want to know the difference between WaveOut & DirectSound, run NotePad w/ wordwrap on and paste this link into Open.

I didnt try Directsound, I tried the P-233 last night and didnt read your reply until this morning at work.  I seem to have deeper problems with that other machine, DVD playback is clunky too.

Thanks for the info,

Wes
