Title: Shutdown Computer from MC/Netremote?
Post by: soren on June 15, 2005, 03:34:35 pm

Is there a command that can be sent to MC from Netremote, that shuts down the computer or sends
it into hibernate. I don't have a screen connected to my computer ...

Never heard about it. But if you don't need to do it remotely, you could always configure power options so that pressing the power button sends the computer into hibernation (for faster startup) or turns it off. Otherwise I think this calls for Girder.

Netremote Music does not support Girder!

I thought there might be something in MC that could do this .. isn't there a shutdown option
in theater mode?. I don't have MC on this computer, so I cannot look at the moment.

Last time I tried to get the computer to shutdown when pressing the powerbutton on the case, it wouldn't!
Anyway ... I think remote shutdown would be a nice feature?

There is a built in MC command on the Remote page for shutdown.  You don't need Girder.

A Hibernte command would be VERY useful - as with the alphabetical/numeric jump-to-first-letter already requested.

Any ideas on how to call the "shutdown" function trough a command in netremote?

Can you use normal command line? If yes, take a look at this page
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd2.html . It allows hibernation etc via cmd

No, NetRemote doesn't support command line. I suggest you take this to Ben, Soren. Plaster it on the NetRemote forum and se what happens.
