Title: Ipod Mini crashes MC11.0.292 and 11.0.293
Post by: Agonostis on June 15, 2005, 07:37:54 pm
My ipod shows up as E: Ipod in the devices header of the tree, and MC crashes as soon as I click on it.  The error report says something about xx_portable.dll.

I don't have a local library on this instance, it connects to a server.

Help?

Uninstalling and reinstalling yields MC again asking if I want to recognize the ipod as a portable music device.  I say 'yes' and click 'manually transfer files.'

It shows up in the tree and clicking on it at all results in an MC crash in 'hh_portable.dll.'

Itunes on my machine sees the tracks on the ipod fine.

The problem is most likely related to going back and forth with iTunes.

Using Explorer, browse to your iPod and then look for a folder called iPod_Control. In it, find a file called iTunesDB. Delete it. At that point, if you run MC you will be able to access your iPod, but not any files on it. Either right click and select 'Intialize' and start clean or try selecting 'Rebuild database on iPod' and go forward from there.

After reading more on the board, I reformatted my mini using ipod_updater.  After that MC11 had no problem recognizing, initializing, and transferring to the ipod.
