Title: What tags are saved during iPod transfer.
Post by: mark_h on June 18, 2005, 07:40:13 am
Hi,

When syncing to my iPod with conversion active, each time a file is converted, MC saves a tag.  On my new system, using a limited user account, this is *painfully* slow.

What tag is MC saving during iPod conversion and can I stop it from doing so?

Thanks,

Mark.

Mark,

All the tag information is saved to the newly converted file. Currently, you cannot stop this from this happening. We may revisit this in  the future to consider optimizing this process.

Ah ok, the tags are being saved to the iPod not the library.  Got it.

I also solved the problem I was having.

In my new setup my PC is connecting via wireless to my server.   My MC temp directory defaulted to a place on the server (I keep My Documents on the server) so when I was converting files they were being sucked from the server and converted on the fly back to the server - the wireless connection was getting bogged down by the data.  As soon as I moved the temp dir to a local folder MC started flying again.

Cheers,

Mark
