Title: Media Center 11 UNC paths
Post by: AnalogRoaming on June 20, 2005, 02:32:02 pm
I just installed MC 11 and noticed first off that I can no longer type a folder into the IMPORT dialog for the library.  I now have to select drive letters. In MC 10, I just entered a UNC like \\server\share$ so that my library would always contain relative paths. (this way, everything works even if the drives are not currently mapped to t he machine.)

Is there any way this can be put back in? My shares are hidden ($) so they don't show up in the network browser either.

File > Import > Add Folder > Browse  - Write or paste the path in the dialog box instead of click-selecting.

Works fine here, except that my poor shares don't have any $.   :-[
Does that make a difference?

File > Import > Add Folder > Browse  - Write or paste the path in the dialog box instead of click-selecting.

Can't.... those steps work great for MC 10.

MC 11 doesn't have a text box there...  I assume you mean File -> Library -> Import Media -> Add Folder -> Browse. I'm only allowed to click through my file/network structure.

Any help on this would be appreciated, and thanks for the suggestion. I do appreciate your time.

I do not have an area to write a path into, just a tree to click on.

Yes, the '$' shares are not visible to those who look for shares. You have to know the machine and the path to add the share.

Sorry, it was a typo. I meant that place.

Do you mean you don't have this white box?

I can write whatever I want into it. Though, MC accepts only valid paths.

When looking at the screenshots; it isn't a skin issue, is it?

I just tried all 6 skins that I've got and that box doesn't show on any of them.

I only tried Aruba, ThunderStorm, and Blue Steel.

No, it is not an OS thing. I run WinXP Pro here.

You know, I'm not at all certain I have ever had a path box in import.
But I won't swear to it. I only use 'My Music", so never have the need.

It is not an OS or skin issue. I have the box available with all skins on XP and W2k.

While waiting a fix it is possible to add new import paths directly to Windows Registry. The paths are stored in this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\Import - Folders

The "|" character is used as a separator in the string. The excluded folders are marked with "Exclude: ". For example:
C:\Music|D:\Rip|\\Server\Video|\\Server\Photo\|Exclude: \\Server\Photo\Private\

It's a bug (not skin related) and it is fixed in the next build. Thanks for reporting it.
