Title: Drive letter change: apply previous medialibrary backup
Post by: mrwul on July 02, 2005, 02:14:36 am
After re-partitioning my "Music"-folder changed from G:\Music to F:\Music.
In the previous situation I had some 'calculated fields' (Composer_Last and Artist_Last).
"Last=LastName".
After importing all the files in Mediacenter the filenames obviously were reading:
F:\Music\folder\folder..etc.

As far as I can see virtually all tag-info is available, except for the above userdefined
fields... :(

When I restored the library backup, it showed G:\Music\etc  as filename.
The userdefined fields were there alright.

I cannot change the filenames from G:\ into F:\, so MediaCenter wud point to the
correct folder.

Question:
I'd like to apply the library tag-info from the backup (that was based on G:\Music, i.e.
the pre-partitioning situation) to the newly imported filenames which are located on F:\Music.
The filenames are exactly the same, different folder though.

Any tips on how to do that

Thanks!

1. Restore the library backup.
2. Select all files.
3. Use this tool: Tools > Library Tools > Find and Replace
   - Tick only: Filename (path)
   - Find what: G:\Music
   - Replace: F:\Music

MC will show you an error message because it can't find the original files, but after the replacement it will find the files from the new locations.
