On installing this build there wasn't a message to restart the computer. However, when I rebooted this morning, a window opened with a progress bar and a message, Completing JRiver Media Center Installation. Should a reboot message have followed the installation or was the Completing install window that I got on rebooting erroneous?

I confirm this

It's normal. We made a change recently that only requires rebooting for major changes. If the change can wait for the next reboot, that's what MC does now.

Thanks, Jim; that's good to know.

Can some kind of message be put up that this will happen? I never turn my computer off and only occasionally have to reboot it for OS patch installs or such. If in a week or two I reboot and see MC finishing the install from a long time ago, I will totally think something is wrong.
-
It shouldn't be necessary but in the interests of having a clean stable machine I always advocate a restart after installing or removing any software or drivers.

An answer and confirmation on this from J River would be nice.

MC won't require an immediate reboot for fixes that are considered non-critical. You could go on another year.

I must say that I also find this a bit odd. What's the sense in installing an update if we don''t know that it requires a reboot to be fully installed?
It had been at least 3 weeks since I last restarted my machine and after reading this board, I restarted my computer and sure enuff there was the message.
