Some time a go someone posted a link which showed
a way to select music by mood, although it was something
along the lines of a java script running through html.
Has anyone still got the link?
My dissertation idea's been blown to bits,
and am avidly looking for another one, apparently
kids are a big no no now cuz it's too much hassle getting
parents permission :(
Remembered the above and am looking for ideas.
My tutor reckons i should find a complex simple user interface to focus on. Any one see any contradictions there?!
:P

Me and a friend have been talking more about this....
and come up with ideas
*Use Keywords - Play
Red, Concert
*Combining the idea with Speech Recognition
"Play something soft, long and happy...."
*Emotional Mood vs Music Mood?
*Select Visualisations
*Select Media not just Audio
It's seems a fairly endless subject....
Technically... Is there any reason it couldn't it be written as a plugin? :)
I have not looked at all in to the Media Center plugin development
stuff...
Cheers

You might want to look up Predixis music magic mixer. I'm not entirely sure how they put mixes together but it seems they have a databse of which artists go well together, tempo measurements and possibly more.
You pick a track and tell it to make a mix based on it. Can also tell it to give a track more like the current one etc. The paid version has more options like dupe finding based on fingerprints.
Forget about moodlogic, it does not work as well.

MMM doesn't do subjective based moods like Mood logic which is based on user input. Music Magic takes a song and finds songs that are acoustically similar so you could find a song that fits your mood and then hit mix. They have an API for it (http://music.predixis.com/6_develop_http.html) and plugins for winamp, foobar, and Itunes, but no MC. If someone would do this, that would be awesome. Imagine in MC being able to right click on any song(s) and create a playlist in the Action window with a list of similar songs. ;D

Much agreement. Would it be as "easy" as (someone else) writing a plugin? If so, we should start lobbying all the usual suspects and see if we can't get a plugin going. The whole field of predictive/associate music matching is, IMO, the next big thing for playback software.

Thats Clever! ;D
Possibly a tad beyond my abilities though! :-\

As of right now I drag and drop files into MMM from MC, highlite, click mix, and then drag n drop those back into MC. This is cumbersome but does work. I would use it alot more if there was direct integration into MC. Since there is a free version of MMM I think a plugin would be worth while. Im wondering if MC would even allow a right click menu item to its core system with a plugin. If so then it could work perfectly with MMM!
I don't think the guys over at Predixis even really know about MC. I have mentioned it a few times however.

Has anyone tried installing the WinAmp plugin in MC? This sounds like the perfect thing to try on someone else's machine. Datdude, what about it?

Don't have winamp installed and I have never used it. I think the best 2 made so far are the foobar and Itunes. I tried it with foobar and it worked well. Check here:
