Title: Viewing TV freezes every 10 seconds for a spit second
Post by: Barrie on July 25, 2005, 04:37:47 pm
I have an ATi All In Wonder 9600 video card.  I have it connected to cable.  I am in Canada.  I have the lastest updated verion of Media Centre 11 installed.  It has done this since I installed it.  I have tried reinstalling it two time and it still does it.  What's the problem?  I also have an E-MU 1212M sound card.  I am not getting sound either.  Can you help?

You dont get sound on ATIs TV, Right?

If so, I believe on that card you might have to plug ati audio out into your sound card.

Check your ATI setup inst.

As far as MC11, there should be no problem, havent ck. their latest ver. , but never had a prob.

One last question

Is this a "Built by ATI" card

or one of the clones?

If its a clone, Who is the Mfg. ?

Griff is right. You have to plug a cable between ATI AIW's Line-out to your sound card's Line-In.

My ATi AIW card is not a clone. It is a 9600.

Take a look at other software running on the PC.

It if is other software there won't be anything I can do as I keep only software I really need on my computer and I don't play games.  Just music and Movies and comunications.

Try re-install ATI driver and application. Be careful to follow ATI's instrusctions on installation as video driver installation is very delicate.

Hello,

I have the exact same  issue!  I have a ATI 9600 All In Wonder video card with cable hooked into the S-Video input.  I have no problems with the video if I use ATI's software, plays without any pauses or freezeframes.  When I watch the TV through JRiver Media Center the video skips or has short studders about every 5-10 minutes or so.  Here are the things I have tried before posting here...... (my first post)

- Reinstalled all of the video drivers and software (in exact order that ATI requests)
- Updated JRiver Media Center (v.11)
- Played with every possible resolution (I thought maybe I had it set too high)- same results.
- Quit every other program running- except my wireless network connection
- Gave JRiver Media all of the CPU's processing power (real time)- no change; I have a P4 computer so it should be enough processing power.
- Checked to assure I have the current Direct X installed

I'm at a loss!  I want to get rid of every other program and only use JRiver as my Home Theater System (It's on a computer in my living room hooked to a 50 inch widescreen TV), but If I want to watch TV at this point I'm stuck using ATI's Tv program

Any more troubleshooting ideas? ?

Thanks for anyone's help, I appreaciate it very much!

Tim

Tim it sounds like we're having the same problem and same set up and same goal to have one software for everything.  You know I can't get MC to play a DVD either.  I think it is because I don't have Microsoft Media Player 10 installed on my computer.  So I am using power DVD 6 delux.  I also agree that JRiver MC 11 rocks.  I wish it played DVD-Audio discs, and didn't require the use of MS Media Player 10, that's about it.

Up until two weeks ago I was using the ATI AIW 9600.  It was smooth, no problems whatsoever.

So I do not have an answer at this time.  Maybe you two could figure out some things you share in common with your computers.

On AVSForum, user repair4man reported a fix for a similar problem:

Check the "AGP APATURE" in your BIOS. On my BIOSTAR motherboard it was defaulted to 1 G. which is more than half of my memory (1.5G.) lowering the value fixed the problem.
