Hello,
Is it possible to quit the Media Center application from inside Theater View.
Thanks for your time.
-
other than ctrl/alt/delete, I don't think so.
-
Hi lpr,
In fact you can add a button in theater view to do just that.
- Go to Options / Theater View
- in "Item to show" click 'Add / Custom Item...'
- Give a name to your button: "Switch off"
- chose type 'Program'
- in parameter enter the following : shutdown -s
You should now have a new "Switch off" button in Theater view :)
There are more options for the shutdown command as can be seen here: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/shutdown.mspx
Hope it helps.
have a good day,
Christian

Thanks Cmagic,
That will be usefull, I'll create a shutdown button with that...
What I was initially looking for, was a "quit" button. Something that would emulate ALT+F4.
Later.

ALT+F4 does not seem to work the way described if assigned to Theater View Button. Am I doing something wrong?

Since I haven't played around with Theater View enough, I'm going to refrain from adding my 2 cents on this topic for now! :-[

There must be a way to do this..? I'm trying to run MC in Theater View from MCE 2005. I need to find a way to exit the application with Microsoft's remote to return to the MCE interface.
Thanks.

Well, it seems like I did not got it right ! Anyway, using the procedure I described earlier to add a Program button just replace the parameter string by this one : mc11.exe /Power. Assuming you are using the latest build of MC11 this will do want you want: exit from MC.
Hope this helps.

Yes, it works!
Thanks Cmagic, this is exactly what I was looking for. :D
Thanks again.

I found this topic after a search, and it was just what I was looking for.
Now, is it possible to add a button to Theater View that will bring MCE back into focus (maximized), either with or without closing MC? Any help would be appreciated (I am trying to increase the spousal approval rating).
Thanks
