my ipod has the path:
J:\iPod_Control\Music\F18\07 - Tucholskystr.mp3
and it's files are appearing in all of my smarlists. Seems MC is seeing it as just another drive or something. but when i plug in the ipod mc syncs it fine.
Any ideas?

I guess you must have imported the contents of your iPod to your library. If you don't want them in there make a smartlist based on...
[Filename (path)]='J:\'
(that's off memory by the way so may need tweaking) and just delete all those files from your library.

the files dont appear in any of my viewschemes. and in smartlists they appear with purple notes instead of green notes.
-
I'm also getting tracks from cds (.cda files) populating my smartlists.
What could be causing all of this I wonder?
-
I'm still convinced that these files got imported into your library. You probably have an option turned on to automatically import files into your library. I don't know why they don't appear in view schemes. You'll need to look at the VS & Smartlist rules.

park,
I think lambert282 is on the money. You can verify this by disconnecting your iPod and then you should be unable to play any files that have a path similar to what you posted. In this case, I would advise removing the files from the MC library.
