They are stored inside the library. A library backup includes all playlists. (File > Library > Library Backup...)

You can save a playlist to a file in by right-clicking the playlist name. (Right-click > Export Playlist...)

OK, thanks... how do I set the library location?

I can see Options' location for e.g. temp files, but not for library.

Thanks, but I already have an automated backup of the workstations' data drives, and just need to get the MC library into this.

Check this: File > Library > Library Manager...

You cannot change an existing library location but you can clone a library as instructed here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=29010.0.

I have my main library in C:\MClib\ (usually I try to keep the paths as short as possible). MC is not limited to single library. I have other libraries with different contents in other locations.

That's just the ticket. Thanks. And it is very cool being able switch between multiple libraries on File | Library.
