Title: Setting Up Zones
Post by: eayers on August 06, 2005, 10:32:29 pm
Is there anyway to set up zones so that I can play audio files stored on my PC, through an instance of MC11 on my laptop.   Essentially. I want to be able to use my laptop as a controller to play music through 1) my PC speaker supstairs, and 2) my stereo downstairs that's connected to the PC via Tivo HMO.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, not with zones. That's what library server is for, as far as I know.

Is the PC running MC11?  If so then use NetRemote from Promixis to do it.  Control the PC, that is.  Controlling the Tivo is another matter.  There are a number of ways to remotely control a Tivo but they have nothing to do with MC.

Alternatively you could run VNC as a server on the PC and use a VNC client from the laptop to take remote control of the PC.

NetRemote and VNC can not stream. Then again the first post is very ambiguous. Playing through the laptop and controlling from the laptop are two different things. But of course NetRemote's the best solution for remote control. ;)

Actually it can (on PC and PocketPC)  :)

But I agree with your first comment.
If you have two pc's , then library server will be the easiest solution....

Sorry, my mistake, Marcel... I had forgotten about that one.
