Hi there,
Is it possible to disable the changes made to the library database propagating to the actual media files. For example, I have two instances of Media Centre running for two separate users, but both connect to the same library on a file server. Each user has there own separate preference on what rating to give these files, but each time a rating is changed, it updates the tag on the file. I want the rating property to only be stored in the mediacenter database, and not written to the actual file - can this be done?
Thanks

You can change the behavior in Tools > Options > Library > Library Fields > Edit > Store in file tags (when possible). You can adjust that for each library field separately.
You can also disable tag writing completely by unticking the Tools > Options > General > Update tags when file info changes option.

Does this first option only relate to MC11 - I can't see this in MC10 which I am running (forgot to add in original posting)
Thanks

The place is a bit different in MC10. Check the Help for finding it. (I don't have MC10 installed on the PC I am using now.)
You can edit the field options and also add new custom fields with all MC versions.
