I have a drive on another PC that I have set to be a 'handheld'.
When I attempt to sync to it, even 1 song, I get a 'out of memory' error in MC11.
This happens on 2 PCs, both of which have plenty of disk space. The Mc11 machine has 2Gb or RAM.
What does this error mean and what is the solution?
TIA

Can you copy content to it without problems when you are not using MC?
What is the path when you browse to it in the Handheld configuration?
That error means that the space available on the drive is less than the size of the file to transfer.

Hi Steve,
This is happening on 2 seperate machines.
Yes, I can write to the drive/folder outside of MC - I had to resort to transfering this way as MC couldn't do it.
The path is \\CarPC\Car PC Audio\. (Car PC Audio is the name of the drive. I'm transferring to the root).
Since transferring files outside of MC, MC can see the album folders when expanding the device. The files don't show up in MC though. I have to right click and choose explore. This opens explorer!
When I attempt to sync 1 file it confirms this and reports 146Gb available.
Then I get "Out of memory. Transfer aborted".
Haven't been around the forum for a while and it's good to get a reply from you. I remember well the help you gave in the early days of iPod synching.

Ash,
Try mapping a drive to that path and then browse to it and see if it works better.

It works when using a mapped drive, as you suggested.
This isn't ideal though. Any idea why it doesn't work as it should?
-
MC does not currently resolve network paths in the situation you are attempting.
This can be changed in the future.

Thanks Steve,
So is it now working as intended?
If so, great.
EDIT:
Is there a way, using another PC as a handheld, to sync palylists and have the playlists available on the handled PC, which is also running MC11. Kind of like the iPod gets the playlists.
The issue I see is the change in file paths as a result of changed drive letters.

This might work. It has not been tested. Another issue besides the one you pointed out is that the playlists will be stored on PC 2 as m3us.
