I've just downloaded the free trial of the newest version of Media Center (11.0.309) to try it out but I need some help. Previously I had been running Media Monkey because of its ease of synchronising with my Iriver and its stability and functionality but it has poor video and image support so I decided to move. However on opening Media Center and allowing it to search for media files and catalogue them I ran into problems. Basically it will search my computer for files and start to add them to the library but when it reaches file 7 it always pauses and then the program shuts down claiming to have generated errors. I'm running Windows 2000 fully updated and had no such problems importing files in the many other programs I have tried over the past few days. PLease can someone advise?

Never Heard Of That Problem
Maybe you should explain more, pictures?
what type of files?
does this happen only when you search?
are you talking about Import?
did you try to bypass the files that are causing the error? (bad media file?)
also going to Help, and system info and posting that information in your next message may help.

Try importing single file types (MP3, for example).
Try importing single directories.

Hi, ok gathered the suggested information. See the 1st screenshot below for my system information. The second screenshot is the popup message I get just before it shuts down. The error occurs anytime I try importing media - (when it did it automatically on the first startup or when on subsequent times I've gone to tools>import media>start search(entire computer checked).
I analyses the library fine and searches for new files without any problems but it crashes when it adds files to the library but always it seems on number 7. The trouble is I have no way of knowing what file "number 7" is and thus it is very hard to determine if it's just this file causing the problem ie corrupt or whatever (not that other similar programs have had issues with any of my files), and if it is to tell the program not to try adding that one.
Any further advice would be much appreciated.
Struggling to get insert image to work so here are the links:

Please copy your system info here. It's put on the clipboard when you view system info in MC help.

Also I will try debug logging now - hmmm import already seems to be checked for logging but there claims to be no information in the current log file.

I tried unchecking the logging and running import media and it got as far as file 8 before crashing which makes me think it isn't a problem with the file itself.
I opened debug view and tried running it with import checked. Once again it got to 8 this time and then died. This is the end of what it says in Debugview:
[320] 18:21:18: Import: ImportNewFiles: Adding: C:\H320 - backup\family.guy.403.pdtv-lol.h300.avi
[320] TffdshowBase::Constructor
[320] TffdshowDecVideo::Constructor
[320] Join filter graph
[320] Removed from filter graph
Any thoughts?
