Title: A temp solution to get coverart on your iPod photo/color
Post by: runemail on August 20, 2005, 10:05:36 am
If you have coverart in tags, you can rebuild the coverart db on the ipod by using anapod trial version. Its the only way i have found. Its a small app and a pretty fast operation.

This is only a temp solution until MC can do this(soon I hope...).

Can we get a primer on how to make this happen?  I downloaded anapod and rebuilt the database, but I must be doing something wrong... just got the 60gb ipod photo....

You know what, I'm tempted to try but IN STEVE I TRUST, and I'll just wait for MC's ability to do this. I bet this will happen before the end of september. Way before?

I believe the phrase is less self-centered than mine on the $4 bill and says IN STEVE WE TRUST

Just to let you know.... I just put some more photos on my iPod using iTunes...  When I started playing music again all the album art was gone...  So I have to rebuild using anapod......

This is ment as a temp solution, its not painless, but its the only way to avoid the "evil iTunes".

As I have posted ealier you can also use Anapod phot-upload tool, but it only goes to 48 pics and isn't really worthwhile
http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/photo.php

However there's also MediaChest
http://mediachest.sourceforge.net/

Quite a wonder program does dynamic playlist and full photo support. It's opensource and thus free; probarbly GNU, but I'm not sure.

It's a bit hard to install though. In any case, certainly a better alternative than iTunes while we're waiting for Steve...

This september. My faith is unshakeable.  ;)

Even better, the reason why we don't hear much about this anymore is because Steve is so busy working on it.

It sounds like you have the sound check function, no if you could get album art, You will be ahead of Anapod, That would be a BIG selling feature!

I'm a bit confused by some of the comments in this thread.  If I have art stored in tags and sync my iPod with MC can I then use Anapod to make cover art appear?  Is this limited to 48 files or will it do it for all 8000+ of my files?

Please could someone clarify and perhaps give step by step instructions.  I have no interest in transferring photos to my iPod - only displaying album art for MP3s.

J,

Not sure. iPod Album Art support is getting closer by the day though so the problem will go away before too much longer.
