Title: mp3 encoder version
Post by: sdcoochie8 on September 20, 2005, 10:52:27 pm: This may have been addressed before but what mp3 encoder version are we running with Media Center 11. It seems on Hydrogen Audio the version of choice may be 3.97.

Post by: Alex B on September 21, 2005, 04:40:46 am: MC11 has LAME 3.96.1, the latest official version. LAME 3.93.1 was the default encoder in MC9.x and MC10.

I have used LAME 3.97 alphas and beta1 with MC for testing purposes. You can put any lame.exe file into the plugin folder.

Post by: Alex B on September 21, 2005, 11:54:43 am: It is correct for MC9 and MC10. There is no MP3 encoder available when MC11 is selected in the page options.

MC11 downloads the needed file automatically when the MP3 options are accessed inside the program for the first time.

In my opinion the download page could have the MC11 version for those who use MC11 offline.

Post by: Alex B on September 21, 2005, 04:08:37 pm: It seems that LAME 3.97 beta 1 is at least as good as 3.96.1. The VBR "New" mode (the fast option in MC) is supposedly better than before.
