I'm new to Media Jukebox, and I need a way to access my shn files! I tried installing the winamp shn plugin, but I don't think I'm doing it correctly. Whenever I try to open a shn file, media jukebox says "Please select file(s) to play" and doesn't open the song. Did I not install the plugin correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to add the in_SHN.dll in MJ's plugin manager.
Otherwise, would it be too much trouble to convert your SHN files to APE? Monkey's Audio (http://www.monkeysaudio.com) makes it easy, and you'll probably save a bunch of disk space in the process.
-
Make a search for SHN.
Was few months ago a long topic about it.
And ,i am not sure but i think Matt told how to install the WinAmp pluging in MJ.
There is another topic on SHN one or 2 day old, have a look.
Why do you want to play your SHN? Why do you keep your music on SHN/ ::)
-
As i said ,Matt has the answer!
Matt do not know about space, but i do Know about the sound of APE versus SHN
-
I would *love* to move away from SHN, but the people that I trade Smashing Pumpkins and Ryan Adams bootlegs with are strangely dedicated to SHN... thusly forcing me to be dedicated, too :P
-
Not really a place to speak about bottlegs they would tell you.
But this bands are on the list of bands allowing trade of live concerts.
The SHN community is maniac from time to time
APE sounds better, smaller than SHN,much faster and easy to rip to .
And to download SHN is so sslooooooooooooooooooooooooow. With ADSL i mean.
With 56 kps moden a no go

I'm a big fan of LEGAL bootleg trading (as you noted, I only deal with music by artists that have taping policies), and I would love to see some of the popular file formats (SHN, APE, FLAC, etc) integrated into future versions of Media Player. *hint, hint* ;)
-
If you mean Media Jukebox (not Media Player), it already has hands-down the best APE support of any other program.
-
Matt who gave you the answer is the APE man
Do not means he looks like one........
So you have APE support in MJ.Much better than in other applications
MJ7 had FLAC.Not anymore cause FLAC project is stopped.
But to support SHN can be a good option for MJ.Most of the people dealing with SHN are kind of avanced users concerning music applications
Well not me,but it is well know allready.
Do you use Furthrnet?
-
Woops.. I meant media jukebox. Baaaad type-o.
I'll have to try out the ape support. I agree that SHN support would be _excellent_. SHNAmp is a spotty, at best.
Yes, I sometimes use furthur... although it's probably the buggiest software app available today.
-
I do not have problem with it.
If speed..toke around 48 hours to get a Fugazzi concert
-
Speed is a big problem with Furthur... it eats a tremendous amount of resources. I have an Athlon XP 1500+, and, after a few hours, furthur really slows my machine down. I guess it's to be expected for a program written in JAVA.
Fugazi bootleg? Awesome... I'll have to look for that. I'm into a lot of indie rock, and it's hard to find live shows for most of those bands.
-
Go to furthrnet.com.Have a look there is a full list of bands allowing concert trading, you may find some names you like.
If you share live concert from bands not on the list, you are banned.
But as a rule, downloading SHN is very slow.
Downloading a concert from BlueGrass Underground from they site take hours and hours.
-
MJ7 had FLAC.Not anymore cause FLAC project is stopped.
No it has not; FLAC is very much alive. Or do you mean FLAC in MJ has stopped?

Keep cool Raoul.
Was another format ,kind of smaller mp3.Not FLAC.
Never used FLAC,so cannot speak about it.
APE rules concerning losless and it DID NOT TAKE ages to download like any other lossless format
