Hi, I just got an IPAQ rx3715 and 1GB CF storage card, so you bet I was excited to pop into media center and drag and drop files. The problem is, It doesn't work at all. Every time I try to transfer to the storage card I get an error followed by a large negative number like -2436627 or something. Anyone have any suggestions? I already tried clearing the MC database files on the PDA.
-
any ideas? Anyone?
-
Does this device appear in Windows Media Player?
-
Yes it does show up in Windows Media Player.
-
Is your build of MC11 recent?
-
I have MC11.0.314
-
Do you have any luck transferring files to the device if you do not send to the storage card or is that not possible?
-
Do you mean if I just drag and drop through explorer? If I do that it works fine.
-
Sort of. In Explorer does is the device presented as two separate storages or one? Is the storage card enumerated separtely from the device itself? If so, can you copy files to the device, not the storage card?
-
Explorer shows the portable device as "Mobile Device" the storage card isn't in explorer.

Imran,
I'm thinking of getting one of the Media iPAQs myself, but more for the Nevo control features.
Have you tried to see if the Media Control application is able to find and control the MC UPnP server? If so, how well does it work in terms of ease of use and speed?
Anyone else out there tried this with MC or other UPnP servers?
TIA...

Here's an old thread on this subject:

Jim,
Thanks for the tip on the old thread! In it you said:
It has a feature I don't understand. Media Control. It apparently talks to the UPnP server you're connected to and tells it what to stream to another UPnP device. In my case, the Philips Streamium in the living room is playing music from MC's UPnP server because I told it to with the Nevo software. Very cool.
Can you say any more about it? How does it compare to the Streamium's TV navigation?
Besides Nevo, there's also Rudeo's "Play and Control" software that's a UPnP control point. http://rudeo.com/playctrl.htm Ever heard of it or tried it?
I'm looking for a way to control streamed music without having to be near the media player and without having the TV on. I'm just finishing up building a new deck (just in time for winter, bummer) and I'd love to be able to sit outside and contol wha't being streamed to a UPnP media player. I haven't looked at the HP PPC's yet, but their transfletive screens are supposed to work well even in direct sunlight.
TIA...
