This build is the first to use a newer system for portable devices.  Please use with caution and report any problems with it on the Portable Devices board.

I Installed 11.1.31 over 11.0 everything went pretty smoothly. When the install started MC, after a few seconds it crashed. When I tried to run it again, it brought up a window saying the MC did not properly close the previous time, so I told it to switch to the default skin and it started without a problem.  Previously I was using the default skin from 11.0.xxx.

I'm having problems with the installer breaking half way thru again.
Removing everything from the temp folder has no effect.

Running InstallWizard.exe from
"E:\Documents and Settings\Mr (hriZ\Local Settings\temp\RarSFX0"

in my case restarts the installer and all is good again.

Same as Jim S First time the program started after the installer finished caused a crash.
I manually started it from the start menu and it asked me if I wanted to disable everything. Not feeling like this i Unticked all the boxes, and MC continued to start fine.

This is a BIG improvement for dealing with portables (like was indicated above).  I have a Creative Zen Sleek and I can now sync my Yahoo! subscription songs via MC!  Now I just get the songs I want via Yahoo, and they seamlessly integrate with my regular collection in MC which can also now transfer them VERY quickly to my Sleek.  I never have to use WMP again!!!!!!!

It's obviously not stable yet, but not too bad either.  The one thing I've had trouble with is...  If I try to drag and drop songs from the library onto the "sync" section of the handheld, it eventually freezes MC (maybe after 20 songs, maybe after 1500).  So I just made a playlist for syncing, and drag everything to it.  It seems to be working just fine that way.

Excellent work so far, guys!

Have these Windows registry items changed?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties
-  View Settings - Column Presets  and
-  View Settings - Sorting Presets

I noticed that the previously saved presets don't work anymore.

Where's the Visualization Studio? I miss the other right-click display window options too. They were handy and ín a logical place.

It seems that I can't rip CD's anymore. Also the connection to my iPod is faulty.

I just installed .31 from scratch.
When I choose MP3 for encoding, I get an error when the package is to be downloaded.
I got the package installed by using the plugin page and choosing MC 10 as the target.

Anyone else seing this?

GH, the MC10 package is different. The DL page doesn't have a plug-in for MC11.x.

You have probably got an older LAME version and perhaps the old input plug-in too (I am not sure if the plug-in installer can overwrite a newer file).

Reinstall MC or unrar the MC11.1 installer file for getting the correct in_mp3.dll. After that just drop a lame.exe into the plug-ins folder before using MP3 options. (As you know v.3.97b1 should be OK.) MC will not try to download anything after that.

Thanks for the heads up.

.31 needs to reject out of date plugins. It happily 'installed' the MC 10 version.

Ripping issue:

When I'm ripping a CD and it completes one, MC doesn't seem to see the new disc I insert until I actually click on Drives and Devices.  If I click Rip CD without clicking on the drives and and devices tree I get an error about there not being an audio CD inserted.  Doesn't happen all the time but about 80% of the time.

It just looked like the URL for the MP3 encoder was wrong, based on what it was complaining about and what the URLs were on the MC11 plugin page, so I just typed what I thought the URL should be into my browser and installed the plugin that way...

By the way, I presume the .32 version on the FTP server isn't recommended for installing either?
