Title: Library Server - Watch Videos over Network
Post by: Lojikl on October 07, 2005, 08:11:45 am
I have a collection XVID and DIVX encoded AVI files residing on my server. I have installed  Media Center 11, and enabled the Library Server, my clients can connect to the library and see the contents, however (and this is a big however since I bought MC to do this) whenever i try to play a video on one of the clients, I get to the 'Connecting' screen and then MC just hangs...........I can stream Audio, MP3, WMA etc, but this is killing me.....i bought MC to do this and now it cannot seem to get the job done........

The same idea of viewing DIVX , XVID videos over the network works fine with MS Media Player...have i wasted my money......

I don't think it's hung.  Just leave it and see if the video doesn't start.

Is the connection wireless?

What speed?  How big are the files?

Hmmm its a wireless network 54Mpbs...but what I don't understand is, why can Windows Media Player play the files instantly ?

If this is the case, I am waiting for the whole file to be tranferred first? They are 700Mb .

Yes, some formats require downloading the entire video first, other formats will stream.
