Title: setup just stops
Post by: B Hoppin on October 13, 2005, 06:23:39 pm
Downloaded 11 demo, ran it, it said wait while preparing setup, ran through the blue bars and that was it. I watched it in processes, at the end of the blue bars it just disappeared. Deleted the installer, restarted, redownloaded, ran it again and got the same thing.

I'm running a fresh install of XP Pro with symantec av 10 corporate, Counterspy 1.5, and Office 2003.

What's up?

turn off all your spyware, adware, and popup blockers to see if it installs.

Its a problem i get regularily.
If all else fails you can run the second phase of the installer from

%docs settings direc%\%Windows Log in name%\Local Settings\Temp\RarSFX0\InstallWizard.exe

In my case thats:-
E:\Documents and Settings\Mr (hriZ\Local Settings\temp\RarSFX0\InstallWizard.exe

Although for most people it would be on C:\

RarSFX0 changes in name so you may have to search around a bit.

Try KingSpartas ideas first tho!

I'd like to see this looked into a bit more. Its a pain!

Install problems like this can be caused by other programs.  Check this thread for examples:

I do have SpyWareGuard on this box, but we shouldn't need to unload these
to install MC me thinks!
Doesn't seem to cause any other installation program trouble.

Can't the installation phaze one part check that phaze two has kicked
into action or something?
It would be nice to at least have a message box saying what went wrong,
rather than disapearing.

Or can you guys talk with the makers of these Anti Spy and see why
this effect is happening etc?

Cheers C.
