I upgraded to MC11 then my problem started. My TIVO was working fine with version 10 but it gives me a 3-5-6 error with the new version--IF it connects at all. I have tried it on my Win2k machine and my WinXP machine. Both work with TIVO desktop and MC ver 10. I have tried it with TIVO desktop not installed and instsalled same problem running not running.
Any answers?
Thank You all,

HI
I'm having pretty much the identical problem. I've seen several other threads on this board and have tried all the various combinations I've seen (remove the TIVO desktop, make sure the beacon is/isn't working, etc.). Nothing seems to work. Since the TIVO upgraded to their latest version, MC just won't connect to it. I've even rebooted the TIVO itself.
Finally, i noticed a comment in one posting about the 11.316 version of MC containing fixes to things that TIVO broke, so I purchased it, Still no joy.
Anything else I can do? I've loaded up Ethereal and done some packet sniffing, but I have to admit, I'm not terribly familiar with it, so I'm not sure how to filter out extraneous noise.
None-the-less, it looks like there ARE broadcasts being sent out and there's definitely XML traffic that contains TIVO information.
Finally, When I Select into the Music and photo's section on TIVO, for a SPLIT SECOND, I see the MC server listed, but then TIVO removes it all all that's left is the TIVO desktop server, which works perfectly fine.
I sure wish I could get MC back and running, the TIVO server SUCKS!
Any ideas?
BTW I'm a registered MC user for several years now.
Thanks

Hi Darin,
If you want, make a capture using ethereal and send it to me (gateley @ jriver.com). I'll take a quick look.

Yes that is exactly what I see happening sometimes when I tell TIVO to :add a server manually. I have pretty much exhusted my networking ability on this as it is not my strong point. I don't know what the ethereal thing is. I am limited to port snoop and IPCONFIG.
Any ideas from here?

Take a look at this thread...

Thanks, but I read that thread and tried the uninstall , Watch for the TIVo beacon and reinstalled everything a couple of ways BEFORE I posted this thread.
Any other solutions? I'd really like to use my ver. 11 instead of TIVO.
Thank You in advance.

Hey
Just FYI
I know it's been awhile and I never really got the problems i was having with MC 11 taken care of. Pretty much just gave up.
But I happened to check for updates this morning and saw the 11.1 update.
Downloaded, installed, and, holy cow! Tivo Works again with MC!
I have no idea what you guys changed in the TIVO server part but whatever it was solved the problem.
Also, note that just before I donwloaded and installed it, I checked the 11 install again just to see if it worked. No luck. So it's definitely something that was fixed.
Anyway, good job! Just wanted you guys to know.
Thanks
Darin
