Title: Creating playlists spawn duplicate files
Post by: mannrt on October 16, 2005, 01:35:30 pm
Hi Folks,

I have discovered that creating playlists produces duplicate files. When browsing through the library or when trying to hunt down duplicates, the songs that are in a playlist appear as duplicates, and deleting them removes them from the playlists. This produced two questions:

1. If you make lots of playsits, you are increasing the size of your database by creating copys of all those songs. Is there a way to make a playlist with only references to the song without creating copies and taking up so much room?

2. If a copy must be created, is there a way for it not to appear everywhere in the library (including the smartlists for dupes)?

Thanks much!

It Does Not Create A Copy Of Any File

You Can Have A File In A Play List More Than Once It Has Nothing To Do With The Media File It's Self.

A Play List Is Only A Bunch Of Text With Links To The Media File.
