MC 11.1.44 (10/27/05)

NEW: Added preliminary Podcast system.  See other thread for details. (nice work Gene, and welcome :D )

1. Changed: Improved album support on portable media center style handhelds. (works for more players, artist name shows up, etc.)
2. Fixed: Network Downloads with unknown lengths were returning an incorrect length value (affects library server with conversion turned on).
3. Fixed: Network Downloads would not seek (affects at least APE playback via library server).
4. Fixed: Network Downloads were not cancelling properly.
5. Fixed: On some systems, Media Center would fail to fully shutdown, leaving a stagnant process in the process list.
6. Changed: After synching data back from an iPod, the upload queue will rerun any smartlists to properly reflect the file changes.
7. Changed: Renamed "Add Virtual Device" to "Add Device".
8. Changed: Reworked CD and devices root tree right-click menu.
9. Fixed: Virtual devices pointing to hard disk paths (on a network, laptop, etc.) were not working properly.
10. Fixed: In rare cases, starting a handheld upload with parallel conversion running could cause one file to fail.
11. Fixed: Album art would not be properly transferred to some WMDM devices -- especially with conversion enabled.

MC 11.1.43 (10/26/05)

1. Fixed: Disconnecting a handheld during an upload would not be gracefully handled in some cases.
2. Optimized: Improved performance when connecting a WMDM device.
3. Optimized: Improved performance when doing iPod uploads.
4. Optimized: Increased parallelism when doing uploads with a mixture of conversion and no-conversion to keep all the pipelines full.
5. Fixed: Playback could skip under high system loads.
6. Changed: Improved handling of WMDM handheld players that don't support meta data.
7. Fixed: The play / pause button on the top fullscreen bar would use the wrong image.
8. Changed: Removed the dead area around the volume and position sliders on the fullscreen bars so they can be used when the mouse is at the very edge of the screen.
9. Changed: Image slideshow only uses background thread image loading for internet files.

MC 11.1.41 (10/25/05)

1. NEW: Handheld uploads convert two files at a time and upload at the same time conversion is running -- greatly increasing upload performance with conversion enabled.
2. Fixed: Portables option for 'Sync data to PC' could be greyed out if selected from the Action Window.
3. Changed: Revised how nested playlists get named on a device to be more concise.
4. Fixed: Performing a sync on a WMDM device wouldn't always properly remove playlists.
5. Fixed: When hooking up a new device, MC wouldn't always properly update after gathering files from it.
6. Fixed: Some iPod databases could cause MC to hang.
7. Changed: MC behaves nicer when performing two or more handheld synchronizations at the same time.
8. Changed: Revamped handheld transfer progress list status column and action window displays.
9. Changed: Handheld views now use the same statusbar text formatting as all other views.
10. Changed: Handheld uploads use a more advanced (and accurate) system to portray overall progress that accounts for parallelism, converting, playlist updates, etc.

MC 11.1.40 (10/24/05)

1. Fixed: The search box would lose the focus when doing a search in some views.
2. Added: Upload Audible files through Audible plugin when connected to "Audible Ready" MTP portable devices.
3. Changed: Older Nomad handhelds use WMDM instead of a custom plugin. (provides more standard integration)
4. Fixed: French version of WinTV PVR 150 could not record.
5. Fixed: On-the-fly conversion wasn't working for TiVo and UPnP Server.
6. Changed: The UPnP Server can now specify a fixed TCP port to use.
7. Fixed: Delete wasn't working on some handhelds.

MC 11.1.39 (10/21/05)

1. Fixed: Ripping could write the wrong number of tracks to cdplayer.ini, losing the last track info.
2. Fixed: Player could crash when failing to create a playlist on an MTP device.
3. Changed: MC does a better job of working with WMDM players that have no PDT entry.
4. Fixed: Encoders were not always using on-the-fly compression when they should have been.

Library Server is still not working for me.
The client loads and displays the library fine.
When you try to play a song, you get message
"media center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files.  Please make sure that the path in your media library points to the right location."

I have 11.1.44 on both the server and the client machines.
I checked the library server plugin screen log and noticed some incorrect things here:

10/27/05 18:57:19 - Starting...
10/27/05 18:57:19 - Running on Port 4900
10/27/05 19:08:58 - Received request for library
10/27/05 19:09:02 - Sending library
10/27/05 19:09:15 - Received request for cover art: f:/mp3/artist/album/11 - song.mp3
10/27/05 19:09:25 - Received request for a file: F:\mp3\artist\album\05 - song.mp3

first issue I see is that on line 5 of the log, it's using forward slashes, which should be backslashes.

second issue I see is that one line 5, it's not the correct path to the cover art.  One of the subfolders isn't referenced in the path correctly and it's looking for a specific song with an .mp3 extension instead of the cover art file with a .jpg extension.
It should be F:\mp3\cover art\artist-album.jpg

I will be available tomorrow until 2:00pm if anyone wants to email me a new file to test or need further details.

Also, double clicking on one song produces 10 lines in the log file.  The first 7 reference cover art and the song file for the one I clicked on. The last 3 are referencing other files from other artists.
Title: Handheld to Local Directory Incorrect Conversion
Post by: GHammer on October 27, 2005, 11:00:38 pm
I notice that files are converted even when they should not be.
I have a local directory setup as a handheld.
Convert to MP3
Convert audio if necessary

When I transfer files, all (MP3, APL, etc) are converted then uploaded.

'1. Changed: Improved album support on portable media center style handhelds. (works for more players, artist name shows up, etc.)'

Do you mean like the Zen vision or more like PDA's that can control MC?

Currently it assumes that a new virtual device only supports mp3 and wma.  This should probably be configurable.

For now, choose "Don't convert" and everything should pass through.

I upgraded to 11.1.43 and re-transferred music using the same method as above.  Now MC11 shows the album name when I browse to "Zen Portable Media Center".  However, the PMC itself still shows a single "Unknown album" holding all of the tracks.

This will be fixed next build.  Thanks for letting us know.

I just tried the sync with 11.1.44 and am still getting just the single "Unkown Album"...

Erase everything.  Then do the sync again.

It should build .alb files with the necessary information in the folders for each album.

But if I choose "Don't convert", I'll bet that APEs are not going to be converted.

I want those converted. I just don't want the MP3s converted to MP3s.

I reinstalled 1.43 and the Sorting worked, I then reinstalled 1.44 and the sorting was screwed again.
It is definately this build.

MediaServer is working again for me. Thanks John.

However, one question I always wanted to ask and that never seemed to work through media server is the "Stop" and "Prev" and "Next" track commands.

Is this something that si not supported thru Media Server?

I notice that sorting of files is quite srewed up in this version.

I have checked the sorting fields under the "Customize current view" dialog and they are correct but the files show up in a order that is totally unrecognizable and not sorted by any field really...

Any help??
