Title: MCv11.1: searching by date. how?
Post by: marko on October 31, 2005, 07:05:40 pm
from the 11.1.47 release thread:
Quote
Changed: Removed non-working "Recently Imported" smartlist presets. (all date searches now search actual date instead of elapsed time)

this is going to mean a fair bit of work for a fair few of us that use date related smartlist searches. How do we now search for files that have been imported over the past x number of days/weeks

I had a quick look at the "isrange(...)" expression, tried mimicking the date format as displayed by MC, tried using double slashes, not working. didn't expect it to.
I added a filelist column using formatdate([date imported],elapsed) but cannot search on this.

so, what's the procedure for this now?

Marko,

Thanks for raising this.

I use date related smartlists a lot as well - particularly those in the Auto Smartlists and my own variants.

I know that you - and others - are much better at the search syntax than I am so I'm going to be relying on your work and expertise to sort this out. I'm grateful for your efforts.

Good luck!

John.

yes, thanks for your efforts Marko.

Not sure if you saw that other thread in which Matt suggests that this kind of search is not possible in 11.1 yet:

Date searches based on "time ago" aren't supported right now with MC 11.1.

How about the last 100 plays instead?: ~sort=[Last Played] ~n=100

no, it's over in the handheld forums, and as my bank balance still hasn't recovered from my recent camera purchase, the zen sleek is still on hold :( , and I don't go in there too often. thanks for the pointer.

I make pretty heavy use of "time ago" searches on a daily basis, so v11.1 is a no-no for me until they return in one form or another. I don't mind if the syntax changes, so long as the functionality is there. I'll keep an eye on the release notes for any updates.

thanks for 'thanks' too btw. :)

We're not sure how we're going to support this moving forward yet, but we certainly will.

Give us a couple of builds.
