Title: Audible
Post by: GHammer on November 02, 2005, 09:32:37 pm
MC 11.1.49 (11/02/05)

1. Changed: Audible service now comes installed with the player.

I'd just as soon that paid services not be included by default. I don't belong, don't intend to join, don't need it in my player/tree/playlists.

Especially considering they don't list you as a player on their info pages.

"You need three things to get started:
1. An Audible account.
2. Software to download and manage your Audible audio, such as AudibleManager® or Audible Download Manager and iTunes.
3. An AudibleReady® device, such as an iPod® or Palm OS handheld, or audio-playing software, including iTunes, Windows Media Player, or AudibleManager.
"

I'll second that - please remove that (at least for me) useless Audible icon. Maybe it would make sense to create sponsored versions of MC in the future, but for now i would prefer to not see an icon like this so prominently placed in my registered MC.

Click on that icon then go away to say Now Playing.
When you close MC, your browser will open with a nice popup ad from audible.com

Not a good thing in my music player...

I'd hate to have to firewall MC but I certainly will if it is used to ferry popups into my system.

GHammer, the same happens on my system. C'Mon JRiver, this is not funny. Please remove this sort of "Functionality", ASAP. The only setting i will accept this kind of stuff is in a "Sponsored" version - meaning a free MC version, with Ads. But as i'm a registered user (multiple versions of MC), i do not understand why i have to swallow this.

Tools->Service Manager-> Click on Audible -> Hit  Hide.  Once it's gone it can't be brought back.  I think this might be why they installed it by default as none of the services seem to install correctly in 11.1.  I had to reinstall .49 to get Audible back.

Please hold your fire for a few builds.  We're tuning how we handle services, so you'll see some rough edges until we get it right.

You always have the option of reverting to an earlier build.
