When I start MC (via remote connection to a computer in another room) the computer automatically searches for servers. I have Library Server running on a third computer. I am suddenly getting an error saying the "handle is in the wrong state for the requested operation".
Any ideas?
Thanks.

What version of MC are you using? Did it change? What did change?
Please copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

Well,
I think it has something to do with remote desktop connection. If I make the audio stay at the host computer (connected to my whole house amplifier) MC has trouble with the "handle". If I restart and dont use remote desktop it works OK.

I need a clearer picture of what's going on, including your network setup...
Thanks,

I have the same problem
Media PC is the server on 100mbit wired ethernet
On my main PC ( 100mbit wired ) I get that error msg, if I open MC then close it and re-open it quickly ie 30sec to 1min Longer delays don't have a problem
On my home laptop I get that all the time ( wireless 11g ) MC doesn't auto-start so the network is always stable when I start MC. It rarely connects first time but always does as fast as I can get thru the menus to retry. Seems to happen mostly when I sleep the laptop.
Socket timeout/closing problem on the server?
Server PC is same version of MC but XP home SP2 plus all updates

Same problem here - get it both with wired LAN and wireless G. I can't figure out a pattern - sometimes the MC11 launches on the client and pulls up the library automatically, other times I get the "server is in the wrong state" msg.
No rhyme or reason far as I can tell.

Any help???
This problem is driving me nuts. About half the time I try to start my client (with a remote) I get this error and I have to open the cabinet, find a pointing device and click a bunch of times to manually find the library.
Makes the program much less attractive to use.

Have you tried 11.1?
-
My version says "No updates available at this time".
So I guess 11.1 is a beta? I don't want to break anything else if I can avoid it.

11.1 is a beta. But it would help if you could try it. Back up your library (11.1 uses a different format, you won't be able to go back), give 11.1 a try long enough to find out if the error still occurs, then install 11.0 and restore your old library. This is a tough one for me, I haven't been able to reproduce it.
