Title: mp101 unable to connect
Post by: Galaxian on November 13, 2005, 01:49:31 pm
Using ver 11.1.56, mp101 sees the server but is unable to connect. It then says 'check server' and attempts to reconnect.

It works fine with Twonkyvision. I've set up Media Center to use the mp101.

mp101 has a static IP address and MC indicates that the server is running.

Any ideas? This is frustrating as it looks as though MC is a great program which I would be very interested to buy.

Did you try a search for MP101 here?

I think it may require updated firmware.

I have the latest firmware (1.3.7).

I've seen a similar post which was unresolved.

The similar post which you saw is resolved, though I'm waiting for final confirmation.

The result was that the machine was infected by IRCbots, and they were messing up the communication.

Run ethereal, take a look at the output, and see if you've been hacked.

Could you be more specific in terms of operating ethereal?

I'm new to this software. What do I need to do and what am I looking for?

The ethereal website has pretty good documentation. You can also try some of the virus checkers and spyware scanners to see if you are infected.

Disabled my NOD32 virus checker and it works fine. Set up an exception for Media Center under the network section with no problems.
