In MC11.1.57 alpha, we've added options for where the files are stored on a handheld. These locations usually come from Program Files\JRiver\MediaCenter 11\data\default resources\pdt.xml, but they can now be changed in options.
See "Advanced" in the lower right corner of this window:

Podcasts are usually audio. Can you describe what you need?

I want to be about to define a root directory of podcast and not have it part of my music folder. to me they are different. So when I drop the podcast on the device it gets filed in it's own folder, with its own folder structure. There is a seperate tree listing so why not device path. :)
Thanks

The purpose of the customizable locations is to be able to put the media where the hardware device expects to find it. On a Sony PSP, for example, music has to be in PSP\Music. If it's anywhere else, the player won't recognize it.
What player are you using? Will it support what you want?

iaudio g3, it allows me to put the folder anywhere. I have a podcast directory in root at the minute I use with my other podcatcher.
while on the topic of folders trees. In version 10 when I selected the device it opened the folder tree underneath and I was able to drag and drop files directly to the folder. now it only shows a mass list of files so it is harder to navigate and do file management. Is this something that was removed?
I have just started using MC11 because of the podcatcher, and I am now thinking about upgrading to 11

I agree with davidhgc. I have an Archos GMini400 on which I have \Music, \Photos, etc. but also \Podcasts & \Audiobooks. At the moment I have to use external synch software (Vice Versa, or Microsoft's (free) Synchtoy). It would be nice to be able to do it all in MC. A "nice to have" rather than a "must have".
Thanks for all the new stuff in 11.1 so far.
