Title: CD Writer - Decode FLAC Files?
Post by: saulniers on November 27, 2005, 11:30:42 pm
Will CD Writer in version 3.0.316 decode FLAC files and write them to an audio CD? I tried without success, using "Decode files directly to CD" selected and not selected. The burning process consistently captured only a few seconds of each FLAC track. I then converted the FLAC files to APE format, selected the APE files, and burned CDs without difficulty. I burned a CD with "Decode files directly to CD" selected and another with it not selected. Both burns were successful. I was not able to find any mention of FLAC in CD Writer Help file.

Please try the FLAC thread on the third party plug-ins board here.

Saulnier--
Chances are you are using the FLAC decoder included at the time of 11.0.316.  The issue you described was seen with that plugin.  Since then both the decoder and the encoder have been upgraded.  To upgrade yours, go to "skins&plugins" for MC 11, and then dowload the encoder v1.5 and decoder v1.3  from Scot Thomson.

Downloading and installing the updated FLAC dlls solved my problem. Thanks very much for your assistance.
