For some reason, this camera began taking nothing but completely black 'pictures'. It was just two years old. I was more than a little disappointed. A google search found numerous reports of a similar nature, all on cameras between 18 - 24 months old. The common consensus seemed to be that the lens drive gears had gotten stripped away, rendering it useless. Very expensive, non-viable repair, so, I suppose if nothing else, an excuse to buy new toys  :-\

Before dumping the camera, I couldn't resist dismantling the thing to see those stripped gears for myself.
