Title: LANGUAGES
Post by: lamyseba on December 02, 2005, 12:59:23 pm
When will j.river produce traduccion for Media Center in other languages? Nowaday, only english speaking people can use this wonderful program, and this is a kind of discrimination. I would really love to see it in other languages.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

you can change the language file to adapt MC to your native tongue.

Take a look at the German tranlsation thread here:

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;topic=27089.0

It should give you some information on how translations can be done.

What language do you want.

Dutch.
From your answer to the question of Lamyseba I understand that JRiver has no plans whatsoever to bring out localised versions of MediaCenter.
I regret that. Changing the language file isn't a good solution because:
1. Many things can't be translated because they aren't in the language file.
2. Media Center constantly changes.

I think there is a Portuguese version around here somewhere.

I don't mean to give you the impression that we don't care.  I'd love to have translations to a few other languages.  We just can't do it.

Your response is not worthy of you. ... and especially not of the "King" that you try to be.

John marc

The Response is

If JRiver Wanted To, they Could Hire A Company To Translate There English File To Many Languages. There Are Resources are out there and I am sure it will not cost all that much. there are "professional translation services" and not the Bad translations that the free translators do.

The only problem I see is updates to the language files.

users who to make updates to the language file can upload them so other users like you can use them.

This can be a two way street, why have not users helped in creating language files? many companies like J River need users to help create language files and keep them up to date. your only talking from your point of view "French" And Or "Portuguese" but yours is not the only language out there.

use your creative talents to create a file that could be posted for download and or have others that may have created a file to upload it

this has been one of MC's weak points for other than English speaking users.

there is a french and german version here

Hello Gamer,

It Works

I didn’t stop the media server.

You must know that my computer is the server for the rest of the house. (is that right English?, or should it be ‘home’)

I stopped MC and started again. Nothing happened.

I stopped MC and stopped Media Server, and started MC again, and there it was.

Everything in the german Language.

Thanks again.

BUT,

Should this be so difficult to translate in other languages???????

Ben.

Ah don't worry I sorted it.  Deleted the language.txt file from the MC custom resources directory. :)
