Title: Radio list
Post by: benvisser on December 09, 2005, 04:28:40 pm
Hello everybody,

Perhaps someone can help me.
I try to make a radiolist.

When I download an internet radio, For example:

mmst://live.cinecast.capcave.com/RadioVeronica

It is not working in MC (11.0.316)
But it works fine in several other programs like Windows Media Player (sorry I used the word WMP again)

I use 11.0.314.  It and 11.0.316 can play internet radio without problem.  If you've never tried web radio with MC, try these steps:

1.  Go to ww.smoothjazz.com

2. Click on "click to listen" and select "128k high speed" This will download an m3u playlist which you should open with mc.  music should start.

Shoutcast links can be dragged into playing now.

Hope this helps.

I have now music playing in MC.
I downloaded and opened the 128 high speed and the music started..

But what should I do next?

What I would do is sit there and listen to it.  But that's my approach to most things.

Now go to playlists/recently imported.  There you should see an mp3 for the station.  It needs tagging, but some of the fields will change as new songs play.  What I do is tag the album "smoothjazz".

While you're in playlists, right-click on playlists and select  "add playlist".  Call it "web radio" or similar.  It will appear in the tree.  now, drag the smoothjazz mp3 onto the web radio icon.  You've just added a station to your playlist.  You're on you're way!

But I am sitting down and listen to it.
No, all the idiots on a stick (that's what we say in Holland) I understand very well what to do with saving a radio station.
But the station I mentioned down here doesn't start in MC and works very well in other programs like (I have to say it once again, sorry people from MC) WMP.

Ben--
If I understand you correctly (and I'm no longer sure I do), you have a specific link you cannot play in MC, although it plays in WMP.

I tried going to capcave, and it's all in some foreign-talk probably having to do with Holland.  I tried following your link, and it wants to download an app or script, and I'm guessing that MC doesn't like that.  Someone smarter than me will likely suggest that it is either a different format MC needs a codec for, or something smart-like.

Sorry to waste your time, and thank you for indulging my helpful suggestion that was not appropriate.  I was confused by your use of the phrase "an internet radio, For example", which I took to mean ANY internet radio station, not limited to the example given.

If you ever want to know how to listen to smoothjazz.com again, feel free to ask.

Hello King,

You're the one I need. The managers these days know everything about plug and play but further.... (Kidding).
I think Jgreen went home for a bite (or a byte).
Perhaps you can tell me what's wrong with not playing in MC

Ben

Sorry King,

It works fine.
When I take away teh "T", the music plays fine.

For the record: Can you tell me the difference between MMST and MMS?

I guess you are still awake.

Here it is 2.40 Am, and I mean Saturday.

So, what's the real answer.

I Was Reading And I found this

In WMP, you can force it to use a certain protocol by typing the streaming media souce like this:
mmsu://server01.net/tv1 (UDP only)
mmst://server01.net/tv1 (TCP only)
http://server01.net/tv1 (HTTP only)
mms://server01.net/tv1 (rollover in the order of Multicast, UDP,TCP,HTTP)
