Title: Can't transfer to iPod when connected to Library Server

I have my entire music collection on a server in the basement.  I connect to that server with MC via the Library Server connection.  Doing so, I can't transfer any of my music to the iPod, I get an error.  If I use a mapped drive and create a library local on the client, then I can transfer the files.   Is this a limitation, or am I doing something wrong?

That's by design so that JRiver doesn't get in trouble over licensing of the music.
I connect to my home Media Library over the internet from work all the time.
What would stop someone from posting the url to their library on the internet and let everyone download their music illegally?
