Title: MP4
Post by: butlertl on December 21, 2005, 09:16:13 am
I have the latest version downloaded last night......still having problems with MC seeing/playing mp4 files.  Everytime I try to play a video file MC shuts down.

What DirectShow filters have you installed on your computer?

Can you produce a log file? Make sure you turn on Playback, Database, and Import for logging.

I installed 3ivx and ffdshow.  I downloaded and ran the .exe file....assuming that the filters were loaded.

I will try to get the log file tonight.

Thanks

You should also install the Haali Media Splitter. After that it should definitly work.

But would still be good to see MC 11.1 support external players as there is quite a quality difference in playing the same MP4 file encoded in H.264 with the build DirectX player compared to the ZoomPlayer or Nero Showtime.  But thats a different story...

I installed the Media Splitter and I can now play mp4 files.  MC still does not see the file when I "Import Media"......I can open a media file via FILE menu and it will play.  I cannot get the file to the iPod.   When I go to the Tree.....Drive and Devices....and then My Computer....the program terminates.

How do I turn on Logging?

When I installed Haali Media Splitter then open MC I get an error box:

Haali Media...
First element in file is not EBML

Any ideas?

Haali Media Splitter does not recognize the file. Does the file have digital rights protection?

How do I turn on Logging?

Help->Configure Debug Logging...

Click Output to a long file, and check the following check boxes under "Types of events to log":

Playback, Import, Database

It appears everything is working as advertised.  Have downloaded the latest version and have not had any shutdowns tonight.

Thanks.
