Title: cncb: DVD Enter Key in MC 11.1
Post by: cncb on December 22, 2005, 02:03:11 pm
I'm still having this problem:

For some DVDs when navigating the menus with the keyboard I hit enter to select a menu item and it kicks me out of the fullscreen view (back to standard view).  An example is the Sting "Brand New Day" DVD-Audio disk.

It's up to the DVD + DVD filters to report when they're at a menu where enter is needed.  However, some major filters don't do a good job of answering the question.

This makes it hard for MC to know if enter should go to the DVD or be translated as a keyboard shortcut.

However, we've only found a few rare discs where our current approach doesn't work as expected.

Well, I'm using the NVidia PureVideo decoders.  Unfortunately it seems to happen with several of my DVD-Audio disks which is the main kind of DVD I want to "watch".  I will try different decoders but the NVidia decoder seems to work ok with other players.

There are two methods we know of that can be used.  The one you'd expect to work was total garbage, so we use the other method.

It may turn out that what method to use could be a user option if other filters work better with the logical method.

This doesn't seem to be filter/decoder specific for me.  I tried the WinDVD4 and PowerDVD6 decoders with MC and have the same results.  It would be great if I could try the alternate method you are describing.  Thanks.

Any way this can be addressed?  I still have problems with the Enter key exiting fullscreen view when navigating several of my DVDs.
