Title: Podcasts on iPod

Is there a way to get my Podcasts to appear in the podcast directory on my IPOD?  Currently I search for them via a playlist and I would much rather have them in the directory.  Idealy they would have a tag like iTunes that shows whether or not you have played it yet.
