Hi there,
Recently I get loads of tagging errors while ripping a CD. This is the message I get:
Tagging Error
Media Center encountered errors while tagging and moving files. Check that the files exist, are not read-only, and are not in use by other programs.
I was having these problems with build .87 and use .90 now, but no change. The file names don't seem to be too long (e.g. not longer than 255 characters), so I have no clue what the reason could be.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Mighty A-MAN

Hi there,
I just realised that the destination folder was write-protected. However, that folder has been created by Media Center as it was ripping a CD and creating the destination folder.
Any clues?

No ideas?
All CDs I'm currently ripping show Tagging Errors ...
Something seems to be strange with Media Center since a few days ...
:(
-
Is the parent folder write protected?
-
Hi Jim,
No, it's not, plus Media Center creates the folder for the new CD rip (and that seems to be write-protected, however, not all files are listed with tagging errors).
I have no clue ...
Thanks,

Hello,
Maybe it helps saying that not all songs from a CD/within a directory show the error message, but probably 50% do.

... furthermore I have no tagging errors showing up when I change anything on the files after they are ripped, e.g. I added the Artist information and everything was saved without any error message.
So this only happens during the Rip process.

Hello All,
My problem doesn't seem to be too intersting, but I have the same problem after downloading Podcasts and the Tagging Errors message shows up.
No ideas?

Any news on this? I am getting these errors as well, using MC 11.1.181. My music structure is d:\music\artist\album\songname.mp3, and I've noted the artist\album structure seems to be write protected, even when MC creates theses folders while ripping. D:\music is not protected. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to which songs get errors, sometimes longer names don't while shorter ones do. After MC completes ripping, the files seem to be okay. One thing I have found is that about half (sometimes more, sometimes less) of the songs get errors. Afterwards, I find for 1 or 2 of the songs that had errors, but not all, there is a file in the folder named song.mp3.XXXXXX with a size of 0KB, the file for the song is there, this is just an extra file.
It's mostly an annoyance, cause every time the error comes up, it interrupts whatever I'm doing with the dialog box.
