I'm not sure if this is a bug or enhancement request.
I have the new 5g iPod and use MC 11.1.90. Now that both support cover art, I'm trying to get my cover art updated.
When I sync the iPod, the cover art goes to the iPod with no problem.
When I update the cover art in MC, usually for missing cover art but sometimes for incorrect cover art, MC does not recognize this as a change so the iPod does not get updated (I sync by playlists and the playlists show as fully syncronized).
Is this a bug? To work around this I have to delete everything from the iPod and sync again. This takes almost 5 hours. I can delete individual tracks or albums, but most of the updated to the cover art are being done in batch, so I'm not sure what has changed.

It is not a bug, but it is recognized that it should be enhanced.
Date Modified is not fully integrated in the sync.
I experienced this after I analyzed some tracks an did not get them updated to the iPod.
I do not have a big problem with it because I only have an iPod Nano, so re-syncing does not take so much time, after deleting the files on the iPod.
I would not know how to do it differently.
The best way to get it done is to make Date Modified an integrated part of the sync parameters.

Dutch,
Thanks for the information. I have the 60gb iPod with over 11,000 tracks, so a full sync takes a long time.

Maybe somebody of the MC team could comment?

Does the same thing happen if you have the album art embedded in the file vs having it stored as a seperate file?
Thanks,
Larry

I don't think it matters. I'm set to track images in a folder and in the tags.

It should work either way.
Mine's set to folder.jpg files in the album folders.
No images in the file tags.
-
It should work either way or it does not work either way?
The issue I'm trying to verify is that changes to cover art are not updating the iPod when I sync. The only work around is to delete the tracks from the iPod and re-sync after that.

That is correct, simply adding cover art, which doesn't necessarily update the files (based on options), so the file itself hasn't changed, won't sync again.
-
Thanks for the info. Looks like this is not a bug.
Maybe this is a good enhancement request for the future.

Now that the holidays are over, can someone from the MC team confirm that this is not a bug?
Also, if it is not a bug, is a future enhancement candidate?
Thanks,
Randy

This would seem to imply that if you have MC set to save album art inside the actual mp3 file, the file WILL get synched again since the file IS changed. This doesn't seem to agree with the earlier reports in this thread, such as:
I don't think it matters. I'm set to track images in a folder and in the tags.
Thanks for any clarification on this,

File modification date isn't used 100% as an indicator of need to resync the file.
I was simply using my example of why that's the case and it's not really a bug. Since my art is in folder.jpg files and not saved in the tags there is no modify date change. JRiver staff have indicated before that they will consider enhancing the criteria for syncing in future versions.
