Title: 11.0 Auto-start Media Server?
Post by: Osho on December 30, 2005, 01:45:50 pm
Hi,

I just upgraded from 10.0 to 11.0. With 10.0, I had configured the Media Server to automatically start when the computer is started. However with 11.0, I am unable to find that option. Could you please tell me where I could set it up so that Media Server is automatically started as soon as Windows starts?

thanks,
Osho

The new Library Server is configured under plug-ins in the tree on the left.

I did look into Library Server configuration but I did not find any option for "Auto-start Media Server on Windows Start".

I see the following options.

============================

Auto Port Selection
Manual Port selection
     Port Number 80

Respond to Auto-Detection Requests

Enable Authentication

    Username:
    Password:

Transcoding options must be set on the client

======================================

thanks,
Osho

Osho,

There isn't an option to start Media Server on Windows startup.

What I havedone is  have my PC auto login on startup and have put Media Server (C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC11.exe /MediaServer") in the startup group.

There are other threads on running media server as a service, but since my pc auto logs in for other apps, this was the cleanest option for me.

Osho,

There isn't an option to start Media Server on Windows startup.

This seems to be a lost functionality moving from 10.0 to 11.0 then. Does 11.1 improve this in anyway?

Can you tell me how to do this in a bit more detail? Thanks.

Any pointers to these other threads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Create a Short Cut

%windir%\system32\MC11.exe /MediaServer"

Drag And Drop It Into Your "StartUp" Folder

Not sure, I never used MC10

King has covered the shortcut, for auto login read the following:

try searching on "NT service" or "Media server service" in this forum, should bring up a few threads.  Or try this one http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=28390.0
