Is it possible to set up a view scheme so that only one pane is used, when it is displaying individual tracks?

When I set up a view scheme for something like complete albums, you can select 'Album' in 'View Items' in the edit view scheme box. Then with the pane controls you can select the bottom pane to be 'none'. However, I have a view scheme that displays every track that fits a criteria as thumbnails, and it insists on display an empty pane at the top of the window.
