Title: Assistance please: converting files in a folder
Post by: tlcmd on January 16, 2006, 11:12:51 am
I have MJ8.
I have copied a playlist to a seperate folder (C:/xconvertmp3)and wish to convert just the files in that folder from ogg vorbis to mp3 (for use in a portable mp3 player (leaving the original files in C:/music unchanged). How can I do this?
Thanks

When you convert, select a new directory as the destination.  In the conversion options, there is a check box for whether to delete the originals.  Uncheck it.

Try a few before you do very many.

In more recent versions of MC, you can convert during upload.  I'm not sure if this feature is in MJ8.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I cannot find that option.
My options on MJ8 on the "Converter Settings" Options are:

move to location
enable or not my setting enable)
    location path
create artist/album subdirectories here (my setting yes)

update media jukebox database (my setting on)
send original to recycle bin (my setting off)

When I converted the 1st 2 from my original database (c:/mymusic), the ogg files were deleted, and the 2 converted files were moved to the new folder (C:/xconvertmp3) and were deleted from the original (c:/mymusic).

My goal: to convert some ogg files to mp3 into another folder without deleting the original ogg files.

Help please. I feel kinda foolish.
