From the album thumbnails view
when hovering the mouse over a thumbnail and
the track list comes up, to be able to click on a single
track and have it play

Fully agree - even with the recent enhancements by integrating library browser and panes views this is one feature that I really have been desiring for a long time and I still feel it is important. 

The Show Files at Bottom must be constanly toggled or the split view dragged to resize, whereas tooltips (or some pop-up window that looks liek a tooltip) will automatically diappear after moving off of the thumbnail.   It allows more real-estate for the album thumbnails then the "Show Files at Bottom" functionality supports.   

Others have requested this in the past... (see datdude & AlexB in http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=29607.0) but I do not know if it is still something that may be considered in a future release.
